K Compost Probe with "T" Handle

A substance with a relatively low ignition temperature (hay, straw, peat, etc.) begins to release heat which is usually caused by oxidation and bacterial fermentation.

The heat is unable to escape (compost, hay, straw, peat, etc. are good thermal insulators), and the temperature of the material rises above its ignition point and combustion occurs (if sufficient oxygen and fuel are present).

It is important to measure the temperature of your compost and where necessary the moisture and oxygen levels. Desired temperatures of <60 °C and moisture levels of >45% can then be achieved.

A temperature probe (thermometer) is inserted deep into the compost pile and the temperatures are monitored. These temperatures can be recorded manually or depending on the digital readout chosen by the customer can be data logged and have pre set alarm capability. Contact Teltherm for compost oxygen sensors.

The Teltherm Compost insertion probe is ½" diameter with a long stem suitable for pushing into large piles of compost. The tip can be pointed for ease of insertion and fast response times or rounded for extra durability.
The sheath is manufactured from 316 Stainless Steel and comes complete with a T bar handle for easy handling. Type K thermocouple is standard but other thermocouple wire or RTD sensors are available on request. Type K is suitable for temperatures up to 1000 °C.
This model is robust, has a 1 meter curly lead, a spring tail attachment and a standard SS 2 point mini end plug.
These probes can be customised to suit and have been made up to 3 metres long. If a readout is required consider the Center 300 or contact Teltherm for technical assistance.
